Longest Field Goal in Oklahoma High School Football History

The question was posed recently on Twitter by Ryan Seidel @rpseid "Where can I find info on the longest field goals in Oklahoma High School Football history?"

Shortly after that John Fitzgerald @UCORadio posted the answers...

• Luke Roberts, Deer Creek, '01, 65 yards (Free Kick after Fair Caught Punt)

• Tim Sydnes, PC West, '94, 63 yards (Free Kick after Fair Caught Punt)

• Josh Brown, Foyil, '96, 61 yards (normal FG)

• Cort Moffitt, Tulsa Washington, '98, 61 yards (normal FG)

So I did a little digging and found the article in the Daily Oklahoman confirming the longest field goal by Luke Roberts from Deer Creek. It happened on November 24, 2001 in the Class 3A state semifinals vs Seminole. The field goal was kicked from a Free Kick (that will be explained in a minute) right as time expired in the 1st half giving Deer Creek a 3-0 lead. Seminole would come back and win the game 14-10. Then next day on Facebook, Adam Baker linked a video from 2001 which is the post game show of Seminole's Mike Snyder talking about the game. In that video, Coach Snyder explains the Free Kick and a little controversy surrounding the kick on that day. But also included in the show is a video of the actual kick.
